Application
Spherical Plain Bearings for Aerospace & Defense Programmes
Controlled aerospace and defense programmes require the bearing proposal to follow the governing drawing, material system, inspection requirements and approval route.

Application Overview
What changes the bearing decision
Aerospace and controlled defense programmes can use spherical plain bearing concepts in control linkages, actuator connections and other articulated joints, but programme requirements go beyond a generic industrial series code. Material system, liner construction, dimensions, inspection, traceability and the approved drawing revision can all be mandatory parts of the component definition.
For that reason, the GE..C and GE..ET 2RS families on this site should be treated as construction references rather than automatic aerospace-qualified replacements. The governing programme drawing or specification takes priority over a cross-reference table. Buyers should provide the drawing, load/motion envelope, material and liner requirements, inspection expectations and approval route before a part proposal is considered.

Key Application Points
Where spherical plain bearings are used
Control / actuator linkage
Maintenance-free PTFE-lined construction may be relevant as an engineering concept, but the programme specification controls the final component.
Landing-gear or structural joint
High loads and strict traceability make generic series substitution inappropriate without the approved drawing and material requirements.
Ground-support or test equipment
Industrial GE/GEG families may be applicable to non-flight equipment when the actual machine specification allows it.
Recommended Products
EVER POWER series to compare first

PTFE-fabric maintenance-free construction reference with face sealing; programme-specific materials and approval requirements still govern.

PTFE-composite maintenance-free reference family for protected joints where the programme drawing permits this type of construction.

Industrial steel-on-steel reference for ground-support or test-equipment joints where the machine specification calls for a serviceable bearing.
Selection Guide
Inputs that matter before model selection
Governing drawing
Use the controlled drawing revision as the primary definition; a catalogue family name is not enough for a flight or controlled application.
Material and liner system
State the required material, liner, surface finish and any prohibited substitutions before quotation.
Load / motion envelope
Include load direction, articulation, cycles, temperature and other programme-specific duty inputs.
Inspection and traceability
Define certificate, inspection, lot traceability and approval-route requirements before release.
Technical Challenges
Common problems and the practical selection response
Generic interchange claims
Avoid treating similar ISO-family geometry as proof of programme interchangeability.
Documentation control
Revision-controlled drawings and traceability requirements must be included with the RFQ when they govern the part.
Maintenance-free does not mean unrestricted
PTFE-lined systems still need review for load, motion, temperature and programme-specific material requirements.
