GEG heavy-duty spherical plain bearing series

The GEG family is the wider heavy-duty radial route in the EVER POWER spherical plain bearing range. Compared with the compact GE family, the GEG envelope increases outside diameter and width at the same nominal bore, which gives the designer a different load path and a more substantial surrounding joint.

GEG series construction

GEG..E / GEG..ES bearings use a single-split radial outer ring and a greaseable steel/steel sliding pair. ES versions use lubrication grooves and holes in the bearing rings. For exposed machinery, GEG..ES 2RS adds lip seals on both faces while retaining the serviceable lubrication strategy.

Typical applications

Hydraulic-cylinder clevises, excavator boom and bucket pivots, loader linkages, agricultural heavy-duty joints and mining equipment are common reasons to evaluate GEG. The wider envelope is valuable only when the bracket, shoulder and housing are designed to accept it.

How load capacity grows through the GEG range

The full table shows why GEG is used as a series rather than a single heavy-duty size. As bore and envelope increase, the published Cr and C0r ratings rise substantially. This lets a designer work within one construction philosophy while scaling the joint. The trade-off is packaging: larger D and B values require more housing material and more axial space, so the bearing cannot be upsized independently of the clevis and pin.

Pin and housing design still control the real joint

A high C0r rating does not protect a pin that bends between widely spaced clevis plates, nor does it prevent a thin housing from distorting around the outside diameter. Heavy-duty selection should be a joint-level check. If the old bearing failed with edge marks or uneven wear, review bracket stiffness and pin support before moving to a larger GEG size.

Open vs sealed service planning

The open GEG..ES family makes sense where grease service is frequent and the joint is protected. GEG..ES 2RS adds two lip seals where dust or splash reaches the faces. Those seals should be inspected as wear components in dirty service. If maintenance access itself is the problem, a sealed greaseable bearing may not solve the root cause; compare a maintenance-free liner instead.
